How to Receive Confirmations - Discerning Right/Wrong Relationships

Right now you may be believing God for your mate and knowing God answers prayers immediately, you may be wondering how will you recognize the person God chose for you.  Or you may be wondering whether a certain person who has entered your life is from God.  There may be strong feelings of attraction and a desire for a relationship but how can you be sure if this is the person God chose for you?  How can you be sure that God has brought you together and if the person you've met is the one God wants you to ultimately marry and build a life with?

Whether you have prayed and watched for God to send your mate or you suspect a certain person is the mate God chose for you, the question is how can you be sure?  Will you base your decision on timing, since the person arrived because you've been praying?  Will you base it on his or her current spiritual walk with the Lord?   Do you base it on the high level of attraction you feel when you are around the individual?

The answer is… No

No one can know if a person is sent by God unless God confirms the person as His choice or not.

But what are confirmations?

Confirmation -- According to Webster's dictionary a confirmation is additional proof that something that was believed is correct.  It is information that confirms or verifies or establishes; it proves the truth, validity or authenticity of something.

God sends confirmations to dispel any doubt that a thing or situation is His Will.  A confirmation is a sign or leading from the Holy Spirit that affirms and bears witness that what is taking place is the Will of God for your life.  The Bible teaches that by two or three witnesses let every word be established. Because God knows the risks you face when you walk by faith and He knows how easy it is to miss Him when He speaks.  Therefore to establish His Will in your life and settle it in your heart, God sends confirming witnesses.

Besides establishing His Will in your heart there is another important reason to receive confirmations in whatever you believe the Lord is telling you to do.  It is Important to receive confirmations because there are many voices out there that can lead you astray if you listen to them.

The Dangers of Forgoing Confirmations

 There are definite dangers you'll face if you neglect to get confirmations when you believe a person or situation is from God.  You'll be in a state of constant confusion not knowing if you are in the Will of God or supposition.  Because if you aren't established in your heart, your position will change moment to moment.  Daily you'll battle the kinds of thoughts where one day you will think you are in the Will of God and the next day you won't. You'll be what James 1:6-8 says, a double minded man unstable in all your ways.  And the bible says a double-minded man receives nothing from the Lord.

Then when you are completely overcome by confusion, your peace will vanish.  The peace of God that's supposed to guard your heart and mind will dissipate making it even harder to hear from God.  To make matters worse, if you hadn't taken the time to get your confirmations, you'll begin to be ruled by your circumstances and emotions.

Ruled by Circumstances & Emotions

You'll start looking at circumstances and your emotions for proof as to whether or not you are in the Will of God.  When things are going well, you'll think the person is from God.  But when things are not going well, you'll think that he or she isn't.  You won't know whether to walk away from the situation or stand your ground.  Because without confirmations that the person in your life is sent by God, you'll never be sure if the problems you are experiencing are to test your faith or if God is trying to direct you to run. You'll be tossed to and fro by every wind of doctrine and as a result you will open the door for the enemy to rob you.

The most important point you must realize when learning to hear from God is that you cannot look to your physical senses.   You will have to become spirit dependant in discerning God's leading.
