The Incredible Benefits of Praying in the Spirit

How do you handle a situation like this? Do you go on hoping something will change? Or do you go through your list of the possible reasons (i.e. doubt, unbelief, lack of faith, interference from the enemy) hoping you hit on what could be the hindrance? This hit-or-miss method can be okay but there is a better way to resolve it.

What if there was a way you could know for sure what was going on in your situation. What if you could find out exactly what the problem and solution to why you aren't seeing results? Or, what if you could simply ask the Lord, “where am I missing it” and He tells you. Well, you can.

True to God's character and nature, He has once again already provided the solution to this problem. In I Corinthians 2:12, God gave us His Spirit that we might know the things that He has freely given us.

So God in His wisdom has provided a way to help us with our problems and He's done it with the gift of being baptized in the Spirit. There are many benefits of this perfect gift but we will cover four that are most helpful while believing for a mate.

01 Get Real-time Answers
God has once again met a need way before we knew we had a problem. God has already provided a way for you to get real-time answers from Him about your particular situation. And He has done it through the baptism of the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in tongues.

Speaking in tongues, also referred to as praying in the spirit, is an awesome resource when you need to hear from God. It can be used in your private prayer time. Praying in the spirit has great benefits especially if you are ever going through a difficult time and you need answers from God. As you are speaking in tongues, the Holyspirit in you is praying for you to the Father concerning your situation.

A great thing about having the Holyspirit pray is He knows all about your situation and can pray a more effective prayer than you ever could alone.

Have you ever experienced something and you didn't know how to pray in your logical mind because you couldn't see all the extenuating circumstances? Well the Holy Spirit sees all; knows all and knows just exactly what to pray to see that situation resolved.

Romans 8:26 Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.

02 Tap Into The Wisdom Of God
Another benefit of speaking in tongues is that you can tap into the wisdom of God and the mind of Christ. Knowing what you think about a situation is one thing but knowing what the Lord thinks is something entirely different.

God who created the universe; who knows the present, past and future; who knows all about you because He created you, certainly knows how to help you solve your problems and give you the wisdom and help you need.

So as you pray in the spirit, according to the I Corinthians 2:10, your spirit is searching the deep things of God to find the insight and wisdom you need to get the victory in your situation. What an awesome blessing! What an awesome God!

03 Recharge Your faith
A third benefit of praying in the spirit is it helps in recharging your faith. Sometimes if you've been believing for a long time and haven't seen any results you can become weak in faith. Well praying in the spirit can strengthen your faith to make it to the end.

Jude 1:20 But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost.

04 Pray Effectively for Others
And last praying in the spirit is a great benefit when praying for another. God knows exactly what that person needs and how to pray for them.

As you yield to the Holy Ghost to pray in the spirit for this person, you are praying perfect prayers for them. Just as God knows everything about you, God knows everything about this person and can get to the root of the problem quicker and more efficiently than you ever could praying with your logical mind.

So as you pray in the spirit, allowing the Holy Spirit to intercede for you, He bypasses the mind so you don't know what is being prayed. But you can ask God for the interpretation. Many times the interpretation of what you were praying will give you insight about your situation.

1Co 14:13 - 14 Wherefore let him that speaketh in an unknown tongue pray that he may interpret. For if I pray in an unknown tongue, my spirit prayeth, but my understanding is unfruitful.

Therefore, the benefits of praying in the spirit and getting the interpretation include:

01 Getting real-time answers from God about your situation.
02 Tapping into the wisdom of God; getting God's mind on the subject
03 Recharging your faith after it has grown weak.
04 Praying more efficiently for others by allowing the HolySpirit to pray.

In closing, if you have not received the gift of being baptized in the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking in tongues, you can receive it now.

Just like any other gift received from God, it must be received by faith. And you receive the baptism of the Holy Ghost the same way you received salvation – with childlike faith by believing it in your heart and confessing it with your mouth.

Rom 10:9-10, That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

To see results, try not to just recite the following prayer, but pray it from your heart and really mean it.

Prayer
Heavenly Father, I thank you that I am a born again child of God. I thank you that I am saved and washed in your blood. Father your Word says in Mark 11:24, ‘what things soever I desire when I pray to believe that i received them and I shall have them’. Father, right now I desire to be filled with the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in tongues. Your Word also states that if I doubt not in my heart, but shall believe that those things which I say shall come to pass; I shall have whatsoever I say.

Therefore, Father, I believe in my heart and I say with my mouth, ‘I receive the Holy Spirit. I believe I am now filled with the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking in tongues. I thank you Father for this gift and I can now speak with other tongues as your Spirit gives the utterance.

Action: If you've prayed that prayer, right now open your mouth and begin to speak expecting the Holy Spirit to give you the words. It may just be a few syllables but continue with it. As you pray in this language you will receive the benefits discussed earlier. †
