Are Your Dreams of Having a Family Fading?

A young lady confessed to me that she had been believing God for her mate for a long time. Additionally, her concern was growing because she was leaving her child-bearing years. She wanted a family and was concerned her dreams of having a family was fading away since she hadn't even met or married her mate yet.

I sensed her pain and pondered what to tell her as I prayed about her situation. Then I remembered the story of my friend. She was a strong believer and had received an almost immediate healing for whatever attacked her. However, there was one instance that it didn't matter what my friend did, healing escaped her. She was believing God for healing of her eyesight because she had grown tired of wearing glasses. She was tired of having to reach for her glasses before focusing on anything. To see the alarm clock, she needed her glasses. To drive to the local store, she had to have her glasses and to read anything, she needed those intrusive glasses. Knowing she was in faith and knowing she knew she believed the scriptures, she grew frustrated and set out to seek the Lord.

After a few days, the Lord spoke to her. He told her that the reason she was having trouble receiving healing for her eyesight was because she could live without the healing. Even though, she hated her glasses, she would reach for them every time she needed them. No one wanted her to remove her glasses and try and see without them, especially before her healing materialized; but the mere fact that she had an option of reaching for her eyeglasses is what cause the delay.

Have you ever been so hungry, that you would eat just about anything? The bag of cookies that you know is not good for you and possibly ruin your diet, will get scoffed down as you try to satisfy the hunger pains plaguing you. Well, it is the same thing with believing God for your mate.

Assuming faith is there, a burning desire for your mate verses a person who would like to be married will get different results. Just like those hunger pains will drive you to eat; a strong burning desire to be married to the person God has for you, will drive you to reach for your goal until you obtain it.

Now, if enough time has passed and your excitement has grown cold or your burning desire has simmered; it's time to utilized goal setting techniques. It's time to get out the calendar and schedule time for this desire. Look at your schedule and spend time daily on getting it manifested. For example, If you go to the gym everyday and workout, you'll have a better chance at getting fit, then going occasionally.

Now, regarding the young lady whose child-bearing years were fading, I am sure she had become a little hopeless. And the remedy for her and you, if you are experiencing this is, first, is to get your confidence back in God. Remember, God already answered that prayer. The Bible says in II Corinthians 1:20,  For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us. So God is not the problem.

God is not The Problem

If God is never the problem, the problem must be coming from somewhere else. For example, if your boss sent you an important text, yet, you never received it and assuming his phone and network were working properly, it is not the fault of the one who sent it. So the problem may be coming from the side of the receiver. The phone may be broken. The network could be down. It could be off for non-payment or impaired due to water damage. Just like there are many reasons for not receiving the text, there are many more reasons for not receiving your mate, but God is never the reason.

And what effected the young woman's attitude so badly was she thought God was withholding her mate from her. She ultimately thought somehow it was God's fault she didn't have her mate. This wrong thinking caused a negative attitude, feelings of hopelessness and a reduction of faith.

Remember when the children of Israel had to face Goliath? They were afraid and listening to Goliath talk. They were afraid because they were looking at the circumstances they were in. Here they were mere men who faced a giant who could destroy them with his little finger. This giant was not only big but talked constantly about how he would destroy them. But Here comes David, the shepherd boy whose job was to keep sheep. He probably was smaller than the soldiers. He didn't have training because he was only there to bring them food. There was nothing assuming about his stature. But David who was less in stature, untrained as a soldier, unskilled in their ways but had one thing going for him. David had strong faith in God. When David decided to fight the giant he didn't consider his circumstances but only considered what He had in God. First, he had past experiences of God delivering him when he faced the bear and the lion, and, second, he knew this giant had the nerve to defy God's people. This angered David and he knew God would fight this battle.

So David went out to face the giant knowing he had every circumstance against him but He didn't focus on that, instead he focused on God. Remember, he focused on his position as a child of God and the ever-present power of God. So David approached this giant with God almighty and a slingshot. In the end, God's power surrounded that stone and killed the giant.

If the woman, whose child-bearing years were fleeing, would have stopped looking at God as the problem, but the solution, she could have gotten similar results. She didn't have a stone but she had the Words of God. She had the authority of God. If she would have put her confidence in God and flung the Word out of her mouth like David flung the stone, she would begin to see changes. But as long as she carried the 'woe is me' attitude, believing God was against her, she would have never gotten the victory.

And also, God has given us power. Jesus said in Luke 10:19  Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you. (I Samuel 17:17-51)

So the same power God used to killed the giant is the same power in you, through the Lord Jesus Christ dwelling in your spirit.

You may not have a bad attitude but whatever you may be experiencing, know that God is on your side.

Ask Yourself These Questions

So take a look at what you are doing. Ask yourself these questions: Are you feeling hopeless? Have you been pursuing God for answers? Have you been speaking it, using your authority? Have you been putting it first in your life? Are you determined to see it manifest, no matter what? Do you have a burning desire or, are you simply interested in getting married? Is getting married a must or can you live without it? And lastly, can you find time in your day to pursue the manifestation of your mate?

If a lot of time has passed, I know it can become discouraging but in the middle of your discouragement, lean on the Lord. The Bible says in Isaiah 40:31,  But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

The Bible also says in Galatians 6:9,  And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not. Or, what about I John 5:14 -15 where it says,  And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us:  And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.

So whatever we asked of God it is a done deal. It is accomplished. The discouragement you are feeling over a delay is the enemy taking advantage of your inability to see what is happening in the spirit realm. So don't let the devil lull you to sleep, and discourage you by pointing out your circumstances. Get back in the game and enforce the win that has already been won for you by Christ!
