How You See is What You will Get

  • by Victoria Thornton
  • I heard a testimony of a woman that had a sickness that caused blindness in both eyes. She went to church on a regular basis and was quite tired of everyone wanting to pray for her to receive her sight. Whenever a speaker came, he wanted to pray for her. Her church members wanted to pray for her and even her pastor constantly called her up to be prayed for. She knew they all had good intentions, but she had gotten tired of it because it didn't matter who prayed for her, things stayed the same.

  • Then one Sunday she arrived at church only to find a new speaker there. Her pastor wanting to see her healed, called her up once more for this guest speaker to pray for her, too. As she approached the stage expecting nothing to change, the guest speaker had her close her eyes. After they were closed he asked her, 'what did she see?' To respond to his request she opened her eyes, but the speaker reminded her he wanted her to close her eyes then tell him what she saw. Again, responding to his request she began to open her eyes again when the speaker responded, "I didn't tell you to open your eyes."

  • After some time the woman finally realized what he was trying to do. Without the use of her physical eyes the speaker was trying to reach her faith. Again, he asked her to close her eyes, then he asked her what she saw.  When she realized what he was doing, instead of responding based on her physical circumstances, she answered in faith. And, when she said she could see by faith. She received her sight. She opened her eyes and saw clearly.

The speaker was trying to get her to respond to him using her faith and not her sense realm evidence and if you respond every time based on circumstances when something is asked of you, you will get the same results as this woman did. Because this woman failed to see herself as healed, it didn't matter who prayed for her. Jesus in the flesh couldn't have gotten her healed when she relied on her cirmstances, but the moment she saw herself as the Word saw her, her healing appeared immediately.

So, how you see is what you'll get, every time.

I recall when I started out in faith, it was the most difficult thing to do was see myself as prosperous when I had zero dollars in my bank account or how difficult it was to believe I had my mate when other people, including myself, saw me as single. It was a faith struggle. How do you act like you have something that you don't? I could have really used the prosperity in my life when I had expenses to pay or I could have used my mate standing next to me when I attended yet another event alone.

  • Perplexed, I set out to find the answers. What I found was the root of my problems were in how I saw myself. When I saw myself as a mere human with limited abilities with no hope it was hard to see a way out, but even when I had gotten into the Word and saw that we are new creations in Christ, blessed with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places it became more complicated. It became complicated because I wanted to walk in His blessings immediately, but the reality is I didn't have the developed faith and wisdom because I was saturated with the world and its system.

  • For instance, when I began believing God for prosperity, I was laid off from my job. How could I get prosperity when I could no longer pay my bills but eventually I learned God was helping me because it brought me to His calling and dependence on Him. With my mate I had to build myself up in my most holy faith. I had to grow to a place in faith that when I was faced with questions about my singlehood, I would answer with strength instead of falling apart every time I was reminded that I had no one. I had to learn to stop looking at my circumstances and stop letting them bother me and at the same time grow my faith as a seed --first the blade, then the ear, after that the full corn in the ear, (Mark 4:28).

Are you having what you see or are you seeing what you intend to have?. Decide you will have what the Bible says you can have by building yourself up in the faith and keeping it. The choice is yours.
