Becoming the Man of Her Dreams

by Victoria Thornton   -   FindingGodsWill.com

Take a good look at yourself. Examine your face, hands, character, heart, etc. You are someone's answer to prayer. You are the husband she is dreaming about now. You are the man of her Dreams. In fact you are exceedingly abundantly above all she can ask or think. You may not feel like it right now but this is who you are.

The Father may be working in you to bring you more into the image of Christ. He may be separating you from the things of the world. He may even be preparing you to be the husband your future wife needs.

But the essence of who you are and who He made you to be is what your future wife is waiting for. The image the Father has of you when He made you in your mother's womb and the likeness of Christ is what He sees and is bringing forth. You are precious in His sight. And as you focus on the finished work of Christ and become transformed by the renewing of your mind as recorded in Romans 12: 1-4; God can bring about the destiny, plans and marriage He designed for you before the world was formed.

So to become the husband of your future wife's dreams certainly prepare in the physical realm. Your wife will need to be provided for; a place to live, finances, etc., all the things normally required to live in this physical realm. Along with providing for her physical needs it's good to have relationship skills and wisdom on how to treat her. Being able to relate to her on a soulish level is pertinent and will require wisdom which is beyond the scope of this article.

Next, your future wife desperately desires someone skilled in how to be a godly husband. To become the God-led husband she desires it's imperative that you consult the best teacher on the subject. He is not hard to find because the One who can best show you the way, (if you are born-again) lives inside you. The third-Person of the Godhead, the Spirit of Truth resides in you and teaches you all things and brings all things to your remembrance. (John 14:17, John 16:13)

The HolySpirit is the One to consult about how to be the best husband for your future wife. Because He made you, He knows how to deal with each of you. And to begin training, all you need to do is ask. A simple heartfelt prayer is all it takes.

So in becoming the man of your future wife's dreams, prepare for her physical, soulish, relationship needs along with learning how to be a godly husband. Having these necessary skills in place is important and shouldn't be neglected.

But for a woman who is praying and believing God for her husband--on top of her list --wants someone who loves Christ. She wants someone who hears from the Father and can navigate through this life having the Father as the captain and her husband as co-captain.

Personally, I believe there is nothing more attractive than a man who loves Christ and has the characteristics of Christ.

I have found that to the degree the spirit of the world has been washed off a man in Christ is to the degree he is attractive. Because the qualities of Christ, like humility, strength, wisdom and mercy, to name a few, are intoxicating. A man that has these qualities is one worth waiting for. He is worth standing in the gap praying for as long as it takes.

Therefore a man that desires to be the husband of a godly wife can never go wrong emulating Jesus. In fact, being a husband who seeks after God's own heart and exhibits Christ and His character are prized possessions and greatly desired in becoming the man of her dreams.

But to be like Christ may seem like a daunting task. It may seem like such an unattainable goal that can only be achieved after the Church is taken from the earth. It may seem so far-fetched that it's only reserved for great men of God like Moses, King David and Apostle Paul, but it is not true.

According to the Word, being like Christ and being conformed to His image are attainable goals and the Bible outlines several ways to it can be done. A few are covered below.

I. From Glory to Glory
One way the bible gives for being changed into the image of Christ is indicated in II Corinthians 3:18.
II Corinthians 3:18 But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord. (KJV)

As you fix your eyes on him, meditating on Him, meditating on His character, looking to Him; this verse lets us know that we can be changed into His same image.

To fix your eyes on Him is simply looking at Him, looking at Him through the eyes of your imagination. Ask the Holy Spirit to allow you see the real Jesus and not the religious image portrayed by religion.
Then as you picture scenes from the Gospels observing His ways; His character and how he responded to different situations; you'll eventually form a picture of who Christ is. And as you study and meditate on the personality of Jesus, you will become like Him as the Bible also reaffirms in the scriptures below.

Scripture reference
I John 4:17 Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because As HE IS, SO ARE WE IN THIS WORLD!

Romans 8:29 For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be CONFORMED TO THE IMAGE OF HIS SON, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.

1 Corinthians 15:47-49 The first man is of the earth, earthy: the second man is the Lord from heaven. As is the earthy, such are they also that are earthy: and as is the heavenly, such are they also that are heavenly. And as we have borne the image of the earthy, we shall also BEAR THE IMAGE OF THE HEAVENLY.

II. The Word
A Second way we can learn His ways and see His character to be more like Him is by studying the Word. Colossians 3:10 states, and have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him.
Through the knowledge gained from studying the Word, this scripture states we become more like Him. In addition to becoming more like Him by simply studying His Word, another benefit is its transforming power.

In Romans 12:2 it states, and be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
As our minds are renewed, we become changed. The blinders are removed and thus able to recognize what is His good, acceptable and perfect will of God. As followers of Christ being able to identify and move into His perfect Will are crucial in marriage.

III. Manifest Himself
So far, to be more like Christ the Bible instructs us to fix our eyes on Him and study His Word and if we do these things we can become like Him. In these methods we are observing the deeds of Christ while He was on earth. We are reading historical data and learning about Him as He dealt with others. Since we have the HolySpirit and the Word, which is alive, it is more than enough to become acquainted with our Lord. But God has gone further.

For New Testament saints (having the resurrected Christ which had not been fulfilled in the epistles), the door has been opened for every believer to have a one-on-one personal relationship with Him. The door has been opened where we can know Him personally.

As Believers under the New covenant, we can know what God is like because we have been with Him. We can know what He has said because He has spoken to us. We can have first-hand knowledge of God and Christ. And God accomplished this reality through the indwelling of the HolySpirit.

But God has promised even more. For those who love Him and keep His commandments, He also promises to manifest Himself to us. In John 14:21 it states, He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will MANIFEST myself to him.

In Strong's Hebrew and Greek Dictionary manifest means - to exhibit (in person) or disclose (by words): - appear, declare (plainly), inform, show, signify.

In Webster's Dictionary manifest means - to be plain, open, clearly visible to the eye or obvious to the understanding; apparent; not obscure or difficult to be seen or understood.

Jesus also added if we love Him and keep His Words He and the Father will make their residence with us.
In John 14:23 Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.

Having the Lord manifest Himself to us is not as far-fetched as one might think. If God under the Old Testament visited Abraham calling him a friend, how much more being the sons and daughters of God in the New Testament would God desire to manifest Himself to you and me.

So to anyone who wants to know and be like Christ, it is an attainable goal. And what a worthy goal it is to have the resurrected Christ, the Second person of the Godhead residing with us and manifesting Himself to us. So as you look to Him and learn from Him to become the man of her dreams, you'll no doubt receive so much more from the mere act of being in His awesome presence.

Therefore, in order to become the man of her dreams, certainly prepare for her physical needs, relationship needs by being a good husband but first and foremost become like Christ. The three ways discussed include 1) beholding Him, 2) studying the Word and 3) loving Him and keeping His commandments. If you do these things the Bible promises us that we will be changed into His image; transformed with a renewed mind and will see Him clearly.

And a final note: As you set aside time with the Father allowing Him to do the work He wants to do in you to make you the magnificent man of God she yearns for, remember your obedience and submission to the Father will determine how quickly that happens.†
