Your Calling, Marriage and Finances

by Victoria Thornton   -   FindingGodsWill.com

Marriage provides the opportunity to have the relationship you’ve often dreamed about, start a family, and raise kids. It can be a great stabilizer to the newly married but can also cause concern for the husband who is seen as the provider of the family. Having such an important and responsible position may cause a new groom to panic, but having Jesus as the Lord of your home can relieve much of the pressure.

Since finances are an important part of your responsibility as a husband, one way to secure the Father’s Lordship and help is through your calling. With your wife and children completely dependent upon you, being in the center of God's Will is a must. It is important because your future family will have to live under whatever financial lordship you provide.  And what you do in relation to God’s Will can be the difference between having little or having much.

But as a man of God, a follower of Christ you can protect yourself and your family by planting yourself in the middle of God’s Holy Calling for your life.  the Calling that God has on your life,  is a place of protection, provision, fulfillment and grace to cover you as you go about doing whatever the Father has chosen for you to do before the world began.

But what is a calling?
God didn’t just put you on the earth to see what you would do. No, before the foundation of the world God made you to do a certain thing according to His own purpose. Psalms 139 states that God saw and knew you in your mother’s womb and written in your book what you were to become. As you seek God about your calling, the Will He has for your life, here is what you need to know.

The Calling & the Gifts
- When He called you, He equipped you.  The gifts support the calling.  You should never look at your gifts to tell you what you are to do with your life.  The gifts support the calling -- meaning that whatever gifts you have flowing through your life was put there to support what God planned for you to do.  So not automatically assume because you have a desire for something that it’s God calling you to do it. It’s not about what you desire but it's about what HE wants.

You may not even feel equipped and this is a good thing. The reason it is good because it forces you depend on Him. In fact, the more you depend on Him the better your gift will work and more His anointing can flow.  Because Jesus stated emphatically that without Him, we can do nothing.

John 15:5 I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing

2Timothy 1:9 Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began,

No One is Better than You
-No one can do your assignment better than you. Now there may be others doing what you are doing but God had a specific reason why He gave you the assignment. For example, if God called you to be a worshipper, while there are others doing it, God wants to use you to reach a specific people in a certain way that may be totally different than what He called someone else to do. And just because God didn’t call you into the five-fold ministry doesn’t mean you aren’t called to do something for him. God may have called you to be a businessman, a craftsman, a writer, a teacher –whatever assignment He has placed in your life, He wants you to bring glory to His name.

God Won’t Change His Mind
- Once God gives you something, He won’t change His mind. You may have made mistakes and done things that cause you to believe God couldn’t possibly use you. But the bible says in Romans 11:29, ‘For the gifts and calling of God are without repentance’. God is able to direct you from where you are now to where you need to be to fulfill the calling He has on your life.

You can Rest in His Calling
-You can rest in God’s grace to cover you as you pursue His will. But if you do your own thing, pursuing your own plans and goals you may find that it is an uphill battle. Proverbs 13:15 states, ‘good understanding giveth favour: but the way of transgressors is hard’.

And lastly, it’s a buffer against failure. II Peter 1:10 states, ‘wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall. Following God and the plan He has laid out for you will lead you to success.

In closing, protection for yourself and family can begin as you place yourself in the middle of God’s Will doing whatever He has for you to do, in the way that He wants you to do it. Therefore seek the Father about His Will for your life today for the blessings it will bring to you and your upcoming family. †
